”あたらしいたんい”

この本に収められた詩は、花崎草（はなさき かや）が2025年に高円寺のプラトー・ギャラリーで行った個展で発表した詩集「あたらしいたんい」に収録された一篇で、「あたらしいたんい」という８文字のひらがなから、重複しない６文字（あ・た・ら・し・い・ん）で詩作された制約詩です。

 以下、《あたらしいたんい》ステートメントより。　

 この「あたらしいたんい」の中には、「あたし」も「あんた」も「あたしら」も「あんたら」も包含されている。個や集団の新たな関係性が生まれようとしている現在において、私たちはどのような存在として、どのような繋がりの中に身を置いているのだろうか。（以下 中略）幼少期に印象に残った谷川俊太郎の詩「いるか」や「かっぱ」は、ひらがなだけの短い詩でありながら、言葉遊びの持つ豊かさを存分に味わえる。今回のひらがな6文字だけで紡がれる制約詩／マイクロポエトリーもまた、ミュージシャンECDの楽曲「ROCK IN MY POCKET」の「ポッケにROCK、ROCK石ころ／これだけありゃ何でもできる」の精神で「6文字ありゃ6篇書ける」と詩作してみた。

「あたし」、「あんた」、「あたしら」、「あんたら」。

「あたらしい」「らしさ」。

軸にあるものから、また増えては減って、“あたらしい”もの（たんい）へと変化していく──少し内向的でありつつも、未来に向けて静かにポジティブなメッセージを放つ文字の力が、この詩にはあります。

本書では、そんな文字たち（６文字／あ・た・ら・し・い・ん）に、山瀬まゆみが呼応する絵を添えています。これにより、文字の組み合わせや響きの空間が視覚的な構成となり、読む人それぞれの“あたらしいたんい”に触れるきっかけとなれば幸いです。

This book features a poem originally presented in Atarashii Tani, a poetry project unveiled at Hanasaki Kaya’s 2025 exhibition at Plateau Gallery in Koenji, Tokyo.

The work is a constrained poem created using only six non-repeating hiragana characters (あ・た・ら・し・い・ん), drawn from the phrase “あたらしいたんい” (“atarashii tani,” meaning “a new unit”). Working within this limited set of letters, the poem explores how language shifts, expands, and transforms through repetition, sound, and subtle variation.

Within these characters exist multiple relationships — “I,” “you,” “we,” and “you all” — suggesting new forms of connection between individuals and groups. Quietly introspective yet gently optimistic, the poem invites readers to reflect on identity, language, and change.

Inspired in part by the playful linguistic world of poems by 谷川俊太郎 and the DIY spirit found in the music of ECD, the project embraces limitation as a creative force.

Accompanying drawings by Mayumi Yamase visually respond to the six characters, transforming sound and text into spatial, visual compositions. Together, poem and image create an open field of interpretation, offering each reader the chance to encounter their own “new unit.”
